No Evidence Linking India Government to Hardeep Singh Nijjar Murder, Canadian Police Clarify

Canadian police have clarified that no evidence has been found linking the Indian government to the murder of Hardeep Singh Nijjar. Former Indian Foreign Secretary Kanwal Sibal responded to American Professor Christopher Clary’s remarks, calling Trudeau’s earlier allegations politically motivated.

Canadian police have made it clear that the murder of Hardeep Singh Nijjar in Canada cannot be linked to the Indian government in any manner. The police have stated that they have not found any evidence so far proving that the Indian government had any role in carrying out the incident.

The clarification has come amid renewed debate over the case, with an American professor sharing his views on social media and alleging that the Canadian government was attempting to avoid addressing the issue directly. His remarks appeared critical of India and were strongly countered by former Indian Foreign Secretary Kanwal Sibal.

American Professor’s Remarks Draw Response

Christopher Clary, Associate Professor of Political Science at the University at Albany in the United States, commented on the matter, saying that a class could be conducted on how government officials respond when they want to avoid discussing a particular issue.

He said such responses often sound as if officials are speaking openly but actually avoid addressing the core matter. He added that one would expect journalists to be highly skilled at identifying such tactics.

Responding to Christopher Clary’s remarks, Kanwal Sibal questioned how Canada was supposedly avoiding the issue. He said that officials had clearly stated that even after issuing 50 search warrants, no evidence had been found showing any connection with the Indian government.

Sibal said the development indicated that former Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s statement in Parliament accusing India was politically motivated and influenced by pro-Khalistan lobbying groups.

He further stated that the decision by concerned agencies to present facts publicly was a courageous step, as they were no longer under the same political pressure as before. According to Sibal, the development has dealt a major setback to anti-India elements because the narrative used to target and defame India has lost its basis.

Who Is Kanwal Sibal

Kanwal Sibal is a 1966-batch Indian Foreign Service officer who served as India’s Foreign Secretary during 2002–2003. He has also served as India’s Ambassador to countries including France, Turkey, Russia, and Egypt.

While his brother chose a political career, Kanwal Sibal pursued a career in the Indian Foreign Service. His diplomatic experience has made him one of the prominent voices on foreign policy issues.

The latest clarification by Canadian police has added a significant development to the Hardeep Singh Nijjar murder case, as officials have stated that no evidence has been found linking the Indian government to the incident despite extensive investigations.
